Guardian Home Program

What is a Guardian Home?

Part of achieving our goal in providing quality sweet-tempered puppies is keeping them in an environment with full interaction and love in a home — not a kennel. As much as we’d love to have all of dogs at our home, we can only have so many at once!

In order to achieve the diversity in genetics that’s required for a successful breeding program, we decided to place dogs in other loving home environments to continue our program. After much research and talking with other responsible breeders in the industry, we’ll be placing some of our top-quality puppies into "Guardian Homes” where the dogs will live as pets. Dooling Doodles retains the breeding rights to that dog during their breeding period; however, after that set period of time is over, the dog is spayed/neutered and lives out the rest of their life as the guardian home’s pet.

Our Guardian Home Program allows for local families to have our pick of the litter puppy for an $1,000 deposit. This deposit is refunded completely once the breeding contract is over. Part of this program is getting to know us well! We love being able to share the experience of bring others into the joy that is providing high-quality adorable puppies into the world and making so many other families happy.

As each dog is unique in their own way, we work out the specific details of the period of time set for the breeding rights period with individual Guardian Families. Typically speaking, we breed the female on her second heat (roughly 18 months of age) and she would have 3-4 litters. After the dog has finished their breeding period, she/he will be spayed or neutered at Dooling Doodles’ expense and returned to the Guardian Family as their forever pet!

What are the costs involved in being a Guardian Home?

To be placed on our Guardian Home list, there is a $1,000 deposit required. This deposit is 100% refundable after your dog has completed our breeding program. Besides the deposit, all of our Guardian Homes are responsible for the general care of the dog. This includes: regular veterinary care, annual vaccines, food, grooming, flea/tick prevention, heart-worm prevention, training, regular exercise, socialization, and all of the love and attention these dogs deserve! ;)

Any and all breeding related medical expenses are taken care of by Dooling Doodles. The rest of the items listed above are simply routine maintenance that any pet owner would be responsible for their own dog.

Why Be a Guardian Home?

There are several very exciting parts of our program that make it an excellent choice for families! One of the biggest highlights is that your family will get to be part of the absolute JOY that is seeing the babies from their very own dog be placed with wonderful families. There’s nothing quite like seeing the happiness that comes from a family with their new puppy!

On top of that, the Guardian Homes get our pick of the litter and a FREE dog. We always select the puppy that has the ideal physical traits for that particular breed as well as has the best temperament/characteristics. Additionally, we also make sure the dog’s personality, size, coloring, and coat matches what you’re looking for to add to your family!

Typically speaking, the cost of these top-notch dogs are between $6K-8K, but our Guardians get their dog free of charge! By the age of 12 months, the puppy will have a complete genetic panel done (paid by Dooling Doodles) to determine if they are sound breeding stock for our program.
